Terms of use
The rules for using DLI.
Draft. This text is under review by an advocate and is not in force yet.
Status: draft, 5 November 2026. Not in force. The final text follows the advocate's review.
1. About DLI
DLI is run by DHYANSHIV INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED. DLI provides technology for document services: accounts, requests, documents, payments and records. Each service is released one at a time.
2. What DLI does not do
- DLI does not perform any notarial act. A notary appointed under the Notaries Act, 1952 performs any notarial act.
- DLI does not give legal advice. Information in the app, including any help chat, is general information only. For advice, speak to an advocate.
- DLI does not choose a notary for you, and does not rank or rate notaries. Notary fees, stamp duty, DLI's platform fee and any partner fee are shown as separate lines.
3. Documents DLI does not accept
DLI does not accept, and the system refuses:
- a general power of attorney;
- a will or any other testamentary disposition;
- a trust deed;
- a negotiable instrument.
These are listed in Part 1 of the legal foundation (section 3). The advocate confirms the list before launch.
4. Your account
- One account per person. Sign-up needs your mobile number and email address. You confirm each with a one-time code.
- You must give correct details, and keep them up to date through support.
- You must keep your codes and your device safe. Do not share a code with anyone. DLI staff never ask for a code.
5. Identity check
A request can start only after your identity check is verified. The check is done by a licensed provider on its own consent screen. DLI does not take your Aadhaar number. While the check is not open, the app says so and no request can start.
6. Fees
- Notary fee: set under the Notaries Act and the notary's rules. The advocate confirms the limit to show.
- Stamp duty: paid through licensed stamp partners. DLI does not sell stamps.
- DLI platform fee and any partner fee: shown separately.
- Refunds: the rule is for the advocate to confirm. The proposal (owner): money is refunded only if it was paid and no document work started. Once work has started, the work done is payable. Duty and third-party charges are not refundable once paid or issued. No refund rule is published until the advocate confirms it.
7. Electronic records
DLI keeps an audit log of important actions. The log can be used as evidence, subject to the law on electronic evidence (Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, section 63). The advocate confirms how the log is certified.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use DLI to commit fraud, to forge a document, to submit a document you have no right to, or to attack the service. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. The advocate confirms the wording.
9. Liability, governing law and disputes
These clauses are for the advocate to draft. DLI does not assume a governing law, a court or a limit of liability. Until the advocate confirms them, this draft says nothing on these points.
10. Changes
We will publish any change to these terms, with its date.
