Digital Legal Infrastructure

Legal document services, done digitally and under the rules that govern them.

DLI is a platform. It brings the steps of a document service into one place and keeps a record of each step. DLI does not perform any notarial act and does not give legal advice.

What DLI is

One platform for many kinds of documents, with a record of every step.

DLI processes many types of documents, and manages a dedicated workflow for each one. Official acts are done only by officials approved by the government. DLI does not create any official act or document on its own.

A platform, not a law firm

DLI connects the steps of a service: the account, the identity check, the documents and the people involved. It is a technology platform.

A record of each step

Each step is recorded with the time it happened. You will be able to see where a request stands at any point.

Rules first

Each service shows its rules before you start. Some documents are not accepted at all, and DLI will tell you so before you begin.

How it works

Five steps, in order.

  1. 1

    Create your account

Start with your email address and confirm it with a one-time code. Add your mobile number and accept the terms.

  2. 2

    Confirm your identity

A licensed provider checks your identity on its own consent screen. DLI does not take your Aadhaar number.

  3. 3

Choose a service and a document

You see the rules of the service and the fees, shown as separate lines, before you start.

  4. 4

    Follow each step

Your request moves through the steps the rules set. The people involved act within their own legal roles.

  5. 5

    Keep your record

Your dashboard shows the record of each step, from the first to the last.

Rules we follow

What DLI does, and what it does not do.

DLI does

  • Provide the platform for each step of a service
  • Keep a record of each step, with its time
  • Require an identity check before a request can start
  • Show each fee on its own line: notary fee, stamp duty, any partner fee and DLI's platform fee
  • Keep its servers in India

DLI does not

  • Perform any notarial act. A notary appointed under the Notaries Act, 1952 performs it.
  • Give legal advice
  • Choose, rank or rate a notary
  • Accept a general power of attorney, a will or any testamentary disposition, a trust, or a negotiable instrument
  • Take your Aadhaar number
